The Development Player League (DPL) is a youth soccer league primarily for girls, designed to provide a professional, competitive environment for aspiring players, bridging the gap between club soccer and the highest level of competition, the Girls Academy (GA). It offers a clear pathway for players to progress to the GA level, with opportunities for call-ups and exposure to the GA training model and level of play.

Purpose:

  • To expand the player pool for participating clubs and provide a professional development structure for aspiring GA players.

Structure:

  • The DPL offers a three-tiered program: FUTURES, OPEN, and FULL STATUS, each designed to support clubs at different levels of competition and development. 

Levels of Play:

  • DPL teams compete in a variety of age groups, from U13 to U19. 

Training and Competition:

  • DPL provides a high-level training environment with professional game day environments and opportunities to play meaningful games. 

College Exposure:

  • DPL teams are often showcased in major college events. 

National Focus:

  • While the DPL has a regional focus, it also offers opportunities for teams to qualify for the GA Champions League, which is for the top teams in the country. 

Collaboration:

  • The DPL has collaborated with the Elite Academy League (EA) to launch the National Development League (NDL). 

Emerging Talent Pathway:

  • The DPL's Emerging Talent Pathway provides a comprehensive structure for clubs to support player development and competitive excellence. 

Professional Development:

  • The DPL provides a professional environment with high-level training, coaching, and competitive play. 

Clear Pathway to GA:

  • The DPL offers a clear pathway for players to transition to the GA level. 

Increased College Exposure:

  • DPL provides opportunities for college coaches to scout players in major showcases. 

Community and Support:

  • The DPL is more than just a league; it's a community that prioritizes player development and club growth.
