SPORTING WICHITA ANNOUNCES NEW TECHNICAL DIRECTOR

Wichita (July 22, 2023) - It is with great enthusiasm that we welcome Ruy Vaz to Sporting Wichita Academy

Youth Soccer Club as the Club’s new Technical Director overseeing Sporting Wichita’s Technical Curriculum

and Coaching Education.

As head men’s soccer coach at Cowley County Community College since 2018, Coach Vaz brings a wealth of

experience to the Technical Education Director role at Sporting Wichita Academy, where he will be responsible

for the design and delivery of the Club’s Technical Development Plan. He led the Cowley Men’s Soccer team

to their first ever Conference, Region, and District titles as well as their only 4 NJCAA National Tournament

participations. He received KJCCC Coach of the Year four times. He has also been head coach of Sporting

Wichita UPSL team for two seasons. His full bio can be found on our website.

this Club in an exciting and positive direction, resulting in better soccer education for players, more consistent

coaching between age groups, and ultimately a great Sporting Wichita player experience,” said SW Executive

Director, Daniel Fiszel.

As Technical Director, Ruy will maintain, evaluate, and grow the Club’s Technical Development Plan. This

means he will be taking the philosophies and pathways that underlie Sporting Wichita’s Long-Term Player

Development Plan, working with D.O.C. Qaies Al-Amood to turn them into an actionable plan that will better

align coaches, players, and even members, with the Club’s vision for the soccer we play.

this opportunity. Sporting Wichita has been a pillar in the community for the development of young players,

student athletes, and citizens. The decision to add a Technical Director to the club just shows the commitment

of this organization to foster an environment of excellence. I am honored for this opportunity and will work

alongside the DOCs and coaches to help improve our players in all areas. We are working on a strong,

comprehensive methodology for the club and the future is very bright at Sporting."
